Audrey Burgess was born and raised in the Crozet area. She is currently working as an Office Service Specialist and a PT Tech, while also attending Piedmont Virginia Community College with a plan on furthering her education to become a physical therapist. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, babysitting, and shopping.  She is very excited to be a part of the PT Plus family!

Amber Ward
Office Services Specialist, Augusta Clinic 

​Amber was born and raised in Waynesboro, VA.  After High School, Amber received her Real Estate license and Pharmacy Technician license.  Amber has now been in the Physical Therapy environment for 2 years, running the office and helping out in the clinic when needed.  She enjoys traveling, shopping, crafts, and supporting her sister and boyfriend at the drag races each weekend.


Carl Zovko, DPT, CSCS

Carl completed his  B.A. in Economics and Commerce at Hampden-Sydney College, after which he received his doctor of physical therapy degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2008. His clinical philosophy is that maximizing available mobility and strength leads to improved quality of life and physical performance. His clinical interests include human movement and performance, and a favorite teaching moment is showing someone how to squat or deadlift. Carl lives in Crozet with his wife and two daughters; they live much of their life outdoors and love exploring the mountains of central Virginia.  In his free time you can find him exercising in his make-shift back porch gym or playing ice hockey at Main Street Arena.

Michael Mahan, DPT

Michael is originally from Tennessee where he completed his B.S. in Exercise Science at Tennessee Tech University and also ran cross country and track.  After completing his undergraduate degree, Michael moved to North Carolina to earn his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Elon University.  During his three years at Elon, he gained experience in a variety of clinical rotations throughout the Southeast and worked with a diverse patient population ranging from the teenage athlete to the elderly adult.  Due to the nature of his clinical rotations and experience as a runner, Michael’s approach to therapy involves utilizing manual, hands-on, techniques and functional exercise to aid his patients back to their full potential.  He also has a special interest in working with athletes and runners of all abilities.  Outside of the clinic, Michael enjoys running, travelling, snowboarding, and playing guitar and piano. 

Kelly Bosserman

Kelly was born and raised in Stuarts Draft, VA and has lived there most of her adult life.  Kelly has two daughters, Kritstin and Kelsey, a grandson Beau and a granddaughter, Destiny.  Kelly loves spending time with her grandchildren and takes care of them every chance she gets.  Kelly likes to walk, hike and spend as much time with family as she can.  She is a fan of Alabama Crimson Tide Football.

Kyle graduated Summa Cum Laude from Louisiana Tech University with his BSHPE/Clinical Fitness and Wellness Degree in 1999.  From there, Kyle moved to Florida where he graduated from the University of South Florida College of Medicine with his Masters of Science in Physical Therapy in 2001.  He spent 17 years in Florida serving his community as an orthopedic outpatient clinic manager specializing in the treatment of neck and back pain, spine rehabilitation, and orthopedic injury.  Kyle then moved into home health care and program development practices where he served as both clinician and Director of Rehabilitation working with and developing programs for patients with Amputations, Neurological impairments including Parkinson’s Disease and Stroke, Orthopedic Surgery, and Lymphedema.  Though Kyle specializes in Neurological Disorders including Balance/Dizziness Disorders as well as the treatment of Parkinson’s Disease, Kyle’s practice approach involves the brain/body connection to assist all his patients toward overall health and wellness and the achievement of each of their individual goals.  Kyle lives in Afton and enjoys hiking, kayaking, working out, and spending time with his family and friends, and of course, his dog!

Ann Smuland

Ann is originally from Dallas, TX.  but now calls VA home.  She has lived in VA for over 20 years.  She currently resides in Crozet with her husband Phil.  They have three daughters and two sons-in-law.  Ann enjoys walking (especially with her weimaraner, Faith), reading, and spending time with family and friends.  She and her husband also enjoy doing mission work in Africa.  "I love the residents at The Lodge.  I find it very interesting to hear other people's life stories."

Elizabeth Poole, MSPT
Rehab  Pilates Instructor

Among her many talents, Elizabeth Poole is mat trained in pilates by APPI. Rehab Pilates is a method developed by Physical Therapist using the original 34 Pilates movements. The movements are adapted to decrease the  pressure on the discs in the low back and to focus on muscle imbalances that can created by pain in this area. The adaptations allow people from all walks of life to participate regardless of age, fitness level or past injury. Elizabeth also has a PT practice at PT Plus in Crozet. A resident of Crozet, she lives with her husband and two sons and enjoys running, gardening, and spending time outdoors.

Rita Adcock

Rita is a native Virginian and has worked in the Physical Therapy sector for 30 years as an office manager. Rita lives in Crozet and is excited to be working in Crozet as well She enjoys spending time with her family, as well as working in her garden and being outdoors.

Zachary has a B.S. in Athletic Training from Anderson University. He is also a Certified Athletic Trainer, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner, and Impact Trained Athletic Trainer.  Zachary's areas of focus include: Sports Enhancement, General Fitness, Rehabilitation, Mobility Training, TRX Suspension Training, Experience with Youth, High School and College Athletes, Concussion Management, and Therapeutic Taping.  Zachary was recently married June 20, 2015 and spent his honeymoon tent-camping in Yellowstone National Park. Three words that describe Zachary: dedicated, positive, and motivating. 

Heidi Crawford, PT, MDT

​Heidi brings joy, humor and compassion with her to the PT Plus team, as well as 33 years of experience. A German native, Heidi attended Texas Woman’s University PT School. Her specialty is acute and chronic back and neck pain, helping many people of all ages recover from pain and weakness in that area. Heidi became a Certified Spine Therapist in 1991. Heidi resides in Charlottesville with her delightful Jack Russell Terrier ‘Ricochet.’ She looks forward to caring for the people of Charlottesville.

​Originally from upstate New York, Randy received his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy from Hunter College in 1990.  He worked in a variety of physical therapy settings in California before moving to Virginia in 2003.  Randy lives in Crozet with his wife and three children.

Elizabeth Poole, MSPT

Elizabeth completed her undergraduate work in Kinesiology at James Madison University, and then received her physical therapy degree from Medical College of Virginia in 1998. After spending three years working in Texas, she and her husband moved back to Virginia to be near family in 2001. Her physical therapy practice has been in outpatient and inpatient settings treating a variety of diagnoses. She began focusing on Women’s Health treatment over the past seven years and has enjoyed helping women of all ages conquer issues of pelvic pain, incontinence and pre/post-natal pain.  She lives in Crozet. Outside of work, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons Micah and Caleb. While her kids keep her very busy, she still finds time for running, exercising with friends and adventure races to keep fit. 

 Laura Coleman, PT
Owner of PT Plus Physical Therapy & Wellness Centers

 Laura Coleman has 30 years of experience as a sports and orthopedic physical therapist.  She is a former owner of SPECTRUM Therapy, a chain of outpatient physical therapy clinics in central Virginia.  She has been personally studying fitness and health since she received her B.S. in Physical Education from the University of Virginia in 1985.  She also has a B.S. in Physical Therapy from the Medical College of Virginia (1987).  ​​​​​Laura has been board certified as a Sports Clinical Specialist, has been part of the medical team at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, and has been a consultant in a number of industries.  She is a nationally known speaker, and a consultant to physical therapists.  She is also a Certified Golf Specialist.  Laura created PT Plus, a rehabilitation company that integrates prevention, health,  and wellness services with physical therapy to serve the needs of local communities.  ​

Shantasia S. Wimberly, MS, ATC, L.A.T.
Certified Athletic Trainer, Stuart Hall School and Augusta Clinic


 Shantasia graduated from Valdosta State University with her B.S. in Athletic Training.  In May 2016, she completed her graduate assistantship with the Hughston Foundation in Columbus, GA where she obtained her M.S. through the University of North Georgia online.  Shantasia resides in Harrisonburg with her husband and 15-month old daughter.  Her favorite hobbies are knitting and roller skating.

Aaron Freeland, DPT

Aaron was born and raised in South Texas. He attended Husson University in Bangor, Maine where got his B.S. in Kinesiology-Human Movement Science, and his Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Through clinical rotations he has had varying experiences working with individuals across the lifespan from infants to older adults. It was also through these clinical rotations that he further developed his love of sports rehabilitation, working with athletes of all skill levels - high school athletes to professional. His clinical interests include manual therapy, orthopedic injuries, and sports rehabilitation. It is his belief that everyone is an athlete  regardless of age or what his or her "sport" of choice may be. In his down time he enjoys being outdoors, whether it is hiking, running, playing golf or football. He has a love of travel, and exploring new places by immersing himself into local ways through food and activities. Aaron is excited to join this community and make Virginia his new home.
