Karen Roland, DPT, OCS
Clinic Manager/Physical Therapist
Karen Roland, DPT, OCS is originally from Mississippi but has now lived in Albemarle county for 16 years. Karen completed Physical Therapy school at University of Mississippi and then returned to complete her Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2008 at VCU. Karen became board certified in Orthopedics in 2010 making sure to continue professional growth and development. During her 25 years as a Physical Therapistshe has enjoyed working in many PT settings including sports clinic, hospital, home health but most of her career has been spent in outpatient clinic.
Karen and her husband Tim have three daughters and enjoy working with the youth group at church. In free time she enjoys hiking, running, reading, sewing, visiting museums and art galleries.
Special interest areas of PT include work injury, ergonomics, Strain Counterstrain technique, shoulder rehabilitation and post-mastectomy recovery.
Angela Swearingen
Front Desk Specialist II
Angela grew up in Waynesboro and has recently received her undergraduate degree in Health Promotions. She previously worked in another outpatient physical therapy setting as a Physical Therapy Aide before joining the staff of PT Plus. Angela is a recent graduate of the massage program at the Virginia School of Massage in Charlottesville. She plans to pursue a career in Physical Therapy.
Laura Coleman, PT, ATC, CGS
Owner
Laura Coleman has 25 years of experience as a sports and orthopedic physical therapist. She has a B.S. in Physical Education from the University of Virginia (1985), where she played Division I Volleyball on scholarship. She also has a B.S. in Physical Therapy from the Medical College of Virginia (1987). Laura has been board certified as a Sports Clinical Specialist, has been part of the medical team at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, and has been an ergonomic consultant to local and regional industry. She is also a Certified Golf Specialist. Laura created PT Plus Physical Therapy & Wellness Center in 2006, a new company that integrates prevention, health, and wellness services with physical therapy to serve the needs of the local community.
